Phantasmagoria Projection Two: Ellicott City

The day most of us have been waiting for has arrived, the second phantasmagoria box has been shipped and I have it in my hands. This time it came in a pillow pouch or w/e you want to call it, mine was slightly crushed on one side but the products inside were safe and intact. With this box we got an entire town of ghost stories, my favorite being 7 Hills with Heart Beat Bridge coming in a close 2nd. I am thoroughly enjoying the color palette we have been given, and I cannot wait for the next box!

The first two pictures show the box contents paper, this time it is a pretty green hue and features the same aged paper look as the first one. I still adore this and find it appropriate for this type of box. The third photo shows everything that came in the pillow pouch we got three eye shadows two full size and a mini, a saucebox sheen, a salve stick, and a deluxe sample perfume oil. The fourth picture shows the amazing label art taken by Noel Sitnick(the owner of Corvus Cosmetics) I have such a fondness for old looking photos. The final picture in the set is of the bottom labels of the eye shadows.

I took two sets of photos, one inside and one outside. The three eye shadows are swatched from left to right over UDPP, bare skin, and Brija eye wax. The saucebox sheen is swatched over bare skin and TF Perfect Lips. The left side is bare skin with two swipes from the applicator, the right is two swipes over the lip pencil, the middle is a dab of color and one swipe from the applicator. The tilted outside picture is me trying to show of the sparkles and shift, the lid picture is showing the shift from forget-me-not factory, and the last picture is one swipe of heart beat bridge over my lips. From top to bottom we have;

Eyeshadows

Forget-Me-Not Factory: Light purple with a beautiful turquoise shift
Not Lip Safe!

The photo does not do the shift justice, I tried and tried to get a better picture of it but my camera was having none of it. I am definitely going to have fun with this color I adore how soft the purple is and then you have this striking turquoise that shows up every once in awhile. Both my mom and my sister said it would make a perfect inner corner shade and I agree, it would also make an interesting liner or just pack it all over your lid and go crazy. This definitely needs a stickier base to show up, it doesn't really look as good over bare skin or UDPP but it was easy to apply and didn't look patchy.

Hayden: Muted raspberry with lavender sparks
Lip Safe!

I have been wanting a red eyeshadow for a couple of months and I am incredibly happy about this one. I swiped it all over my lid last night and it is perfect, I paired it with 7 Hills and I felt like a vampire queen. It's not overbearing at all and has a slight shimmer to it, I don't think you could be mistaken for sick with this color. I'll have to try a bolder look with this at some point, and it would look amazing on your lips, perhaps over a black base or something? I personally prefer the was base over the other two but you can pull off bare skin or a less sticky base with this one, it went on smoothly and doesn't appear patchy.

7 Hills: Deep grey with red sparks
Lip Safe!

I LOVE this color, the red sparkles give it such an amazing look that I almost feel demonic wearing it. This is a perfect inner crease/smokey eye color and paired with Hayden it's just sinful. If you like dark makeup this is an amazing addition to your collection and I am happy I was able to snag a box and get this bad boy. It would be interesting to see on lips, you would definitely get attention. This one again doesn't really need a base underneath but you get more bang for your buck with one as it really does bring out the sparkles, it went on smooth and doesn't appear to be patchy.

Saucebox Sheen

Heart Beat Bridge: Bloody raspberry with blue sheen

You can't go wrong with red, or at least with the right red everyone looks classy and this is no exception. In the tube it almost appears to be a slightly darker true red but on the skin and on my lips it's a little ketchupy which isn't a bad thing at least with me. Some people might have a problem with it and I can see where this might not look good on everyone but if it works for you and you enjoy it flaunt it! As with last time the texture is good and the product is really pigmented I get good coverage with one swipe but you can build up the color if you want more. Once it dries down a bit the transfer isn't too bad, but after kissing my boyfriends cheek and my hand I needed to reapply so keep that in mind. I didn't really notice to much transfer onto my glass so for the most part you are safe to drink, but eating food you might have to reapply. As with most reds this does seem to bleed slightly so you might want to use a base or lip pencil underneath, I didn't have too much of a problem but I know with some people lipstick tends to travel. Overall I think this will wiggle it's way into my makeup routine.(at least more than lover's spat which I found is an awesome base for applying powder, so if you have it go ahead and try some lip safe eye shadows you might be surprised.)

Salve Stick

Ghost Chef: Mocha Latte

I've never actually smelled a mocha latte before so I have no idea if this actually smells like one or not because I can't detect and coffee hints in it at all. My mom and sister said it smells like coffee and so did my boyfriend but I must be broken because all I get is hot chocolate with whipped cream or marshmallows. If I could eat this salve stick I would because it smells so good, it's the beginning of summer and now all I want to do is sip hot cocoa and sit by a fire. It goes on silky smooth and leaves me lips feeling amazing, the last one we got literally saved both mine and my boyfriends lips so I'm glad I have a new one to replace the old one once it goes to the giant makeup bag in the sky.

Scent

Lilburn: wafts of cigar smoke, smoldering rubble, petitgrain, bergamot, frankincense absolute
What it smells like in the bottle: smoke, wood, and something slightly sweet
What it smells like on me: I get smoke and citrus and a creamy sweet note almost like vanilla

This is perplexing I'm not even sure where the sweet smell is coming from but the smoke takes a back seat and everything comes forward. I also get an almost leather quality. It's weird but oh so good and a really really like this a lot. The throw is pretty good my boyfriend could smell me about a foot away or so. So if you like smokey you will definitely like this, it almost makes me want a maple bacon perfume for some reason.

Overall this was so far my favorite box, I really really liked the color palette with the reds and greys and the really pretty purple/teal. The scent is marvelous and I enjoyed the candied ginger and anise squares. I'm really enjoying the theme of these boxes and look forward to seeing what we get in the Woodruff-Fontaine House box, I can only imagine we might see oranges or blacks due to it being released in October. For those of you who missed this box I'm sorry perhaps you'll catch the next one, I know I will be a very sad panda if I manage to miss it.
